About
Jamie started riding mountain bikes in 2009 to help deal with some injuries sustained while training for an Ultra Marathon and to stay fit after he retired from the military. Realising that he would probably continue to sustain injuries from the volume of training required to run Ultra’s he made the switch permanent and hasn’t looked back since.
He competed in his first Marathon mountain bike race in February that year, learned some hard lessons that he then took to his first two Enduro events, the 6+6 at the Australian 24 Solo Mountain Bike Championships at Majura Pines and the Insomnia 24 Hour in Queensland finishing second in both. This resulted in some great opportunities that allowed Jamie to take his racing to the next level, qualifying in the Elite category for the Solo 24 hour World Championships in 2010. Unfortunately bad health followed and Jamie was unable to compete at the worlds. 2011 continued in the same vein, with mixed health and mixed results.
At the start of 2012 Jamie was offered a fantastic opportunity to join one of the most competitive race teams in Australia, Anytime Fitness/Trek. With a turn for the better health wise this year Jamie is looking forward to racing for Anytime Fitness/Trek and the team sponsors at endurance mountain bike events around the country.
